The authors and contributors have put together a well-organized review of the highlights of contemporary issues in psychosocial medicine and in the biochemistry of neurotransmission in health and disease. As a review, this book is concise, has a smooth style, and contains important references and tables. Such a review would have obvious advantages for anyone studying for a board or licensure examination.
On the other hand, little original work is mentioned. One can get an overview from the mountain top, but little detail, texture, or "feel" for the ground beneath one's feet. The theoretical issues in the doctor-patient relationship are
