The world health organization in 1974 established a Collaborating Centre for the Histological Classification of Renal Diseases under the direction of Jacob Churg, and the Centre worked with pathologists and nephrologists to produce the material in this book.
The first section begins with a glossary of 11 selected terms that apparently need special definition or emphasis (such as diffuse, focal, global, hyalinosis, and sclerosis). The rest of the section consists of five tables. Table I, which is the fundamental organizational template of the book, lists "Basic Glomerular Alterations," and Tables III and IV give clinical and morphologic features of each
