Early diagnosis of cancer offers the best chance for control of the individual case and the overall impact of this disease. External signs and genetic history may anticipate serious malignant disease better than many other screening programs. Preventive efforts in identifying high-risk persons in genetic pedigrees may yield large dividends in cancer control.
These are the lessons that Dr. Lynch has helped spread through his numerous writings on the genetics of cancer. Dr. Lynch is an advocate of taking family histories, following up familial cancer histories, and the use of these and other tools in aggressive attempts to prevent cancer
