The young cardiology trainee, during rotation through the cardiac surgical service, may feel overwhelmed by the hectic pace, the seemingly infinite amount of information requiring attention, and the unending series of crises demanding resolution. The trainee may long for a "how to do it" book that will help organize the day and show where to get started. But the trainee is likely to be disappointed when turning to this book.
The editors have gathered a glittering array of clinicians, mostly anesthesiologists, who present concepts based on personal experience. However, the attempt at being comprehensive seems to diffuse the focus of
