In the past 8 years the field of two-dimensional (2D) echocardiography has expanded and gained wide clinical acceptance. Arthur Weyman, a renowned worker in this field, has written an outstanding textbook full of practical as well as clinically relevant information.
There are three sections: The first deals with the physical principles of ultrasound, and is a repetition of what has been published elsewhere. The second, and perhaps the most important, introduces the reader to the standard imaging planes and the general principles of the crosssectional examination.
