WILLIAM BENENSON, M.D.
To the editor: I read with interest the article, "Primary Total Hip or Knee Replacement: Evaluation of Patients." I note with alarm the statement: "Because 15% of people over age 65 years have dementia. . . ." I am certain that this opinion cannot be supported. I hazard a guess that Drs. Liang and Poss, and Ms. Cullen are very young indeed and hold an alarmingly low respect for senior citizens.
