In our library I do not find a book on the interactions among internists, anesthesiologists, and surgeons that are indispensable for top-level care. A thoughtful and practical book such as this one fills a need in the education of both attending physicians and consultants. Although interdisciplinary problems are covered in journals, a comprehensive treatment of the manner as well as the matter of consultations reminds us how often a collaboration can benefit patients, instruct the staff, and foster a more scientific approach to clinical studies.
