I enjoyed reading this short book. That enjoyment is important in the critical appraisal of a book intended to help family doctors and primary care internists solve clinical problems effectively and efficiently. This book is not a textbook in the usual sense; there is no attempt to be encyclopedic. The book can be easily read in a single sitting.
The section on symptoms, clinical signs, and breathing tests is a masterpiece of brevity and practicality. It is a pleasure to have a succinct physiologic explanation for noisy breathing, wheezes, and crackles—terms that are readily understandable compared to the more obscure
