The author's goal of giving medical students an understanding of endocrine disease is fulfilled. The book will also be a useful reminder to physicians of the nuances of testing when they are confronted with obscure endocrine problems, and will serve as a general review. The book is written through the combined efforts of the Division of Endocrinology at UCLA.
The task of fitting the available knowledge into the confines of a pocket paperback leaves many areas less than satisfactorily discussed. In some instances, space is compromised by the inclusion of material that does not serve the goals of this book,
