It is a difficult time to write a simple text on cardiologic problems in primary care. Many traditional concepts are being challenged, and controversies are common. The simultaneous acceptance of many new therapeutic agents and surgical therapies has added to this confusion. These considerations are recognized in the final chapter of this book, which is unfortunately too late because the earlier chapters contain several dogmatic statements that would not receive general acceptance in North American teaching centers.
