The title of this book is extremely misleading: The book does not describe the technical procedures for any of the routine coagulation assays. However, it does describe in detail many of the coagulation diseases and briefly evaluates some laboratory results as they aid in diagnosis. (Apparently a companion volume, Procedures for the Coagulation Laboratory, is available and gives the precise test methods.)
The chapter on disseminated intravascular coagulation is outstanding. The clinical settings in which disseminated intravascular coagulation is found and its pathophysiology are thoroughly reviewed.
