David Schottenfeld, Chief of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at the Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Joseph Fraumeni, Chief of Environmental Epidemiology Branch at the National Cancer Institute, are well qualified for organizing and editing a multiauthored text on cancer epidemiology. The scope of treatment of the topics is world-wide and the list of contributors is international. Nevertheless, the contributors are predominantly North American, and most of the tabular data are based on recent statistical reports and studies from the United States.
