In the 1980s, the "in" things in oncology circles are paramedical and social support systems for cancer patients. Therefore, I approached this book with some hesitation but was pleasantly surprised. The book is now in a prominent place in our oncology unit library for all to read.
The editor has collected papers from various authors, many from the Baltimore Cancer Research Center, and has included a preface by Senator Edward Kennedy. The papers address problems ranging from transfusion therapy and infection control to legal concerns and emotional support. They do not address primary drugs or radiotherapy. There is some variation
