Twenty descriptive and reflective papers on objectives, processes, and programs for training and practice in primary care medicine, with special attention to functions for nurse practitioners, nutritionists, clinical pharmacists, and psychiatrists. Two notably useful appendixes include an outline of skills and knowledge that should be acquired in a residency in primary care internal medicine and a bibliography of books and articles on basic psychiatry for primary care. This collection merits careful reading by all who are responsible for residency training in internal medicine.
