Presenting state-of-the-art cancer therapy to the no-noncologist is a challenge for the textbook author. Therapeutic recommendations often change so quickly as to be obsolete by the time of publication. The many approaches and the controversies concerning areas such as primary treatment of breast cancer confuse and frustrate the nonspecialist. This textbook grew out of a series of lectures at a group of Connecticut hospitals, and the authors have succeeded in giving clear, comprehensive, and practical coverage to this complex and rapidly evolving field.
Of particular note is the attention given to those aspects of cancer care in which the nonspecialist
