About half of the text of Baldessarini's book concisely reviews current biologic concepts of the depression disorders and the remainder describes contemporary pharmacologic approaches for treatment. Affective Disorders covers the same ground and more, including epidemiology, diagnostic classification, and nonpharmacologic treatment, with more detail on pharmacotherapy such as treatment of elderly patients.
