Certainly all the readers of the Annals are humans, most are not vegetarians, many own pets, and probably some enjoy hunting. For these reasons, readers should have an interest in the "proper"—that is, moral—relation between humans and animals. But these readers also have a more specific interest in this relationship; being involved with medicine, they are either doing research that uses animals or they have a keen interest in the results of much of this research. Ethics and Animals has some interesting ideas about the more general aspects of this relationship, but not much of value about the more specialized
