The emphasis is on infectious and tropical diseases: discussions of febrile diseases, viral diseases, scrub typhus, murine typhus, and leptospirosis. The section on bacterial diseases covers melioidosis, plague, tuberculosis, and gram-negative infections; venereal diseases and general medical problems are also covered. The emergence of drug-resistent falciparum malaria and establishing a renal unit in a combat zone are also discussed. Color illustrations and over 100 tables of statistical data.
