This annual volume serves, in effect, as a supplement on recent and current developments in health, disease, and medical care to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. As such, it has been prepared for an audience far wider than professionals. Nevertheless many of its articles, well-written and finely illustrated, are likely to be good sources for physicians who want to bring themselves up to date on some recent developments without reading highly technical or turgid accounts.
