A broad, highly readable survey of the structural and functional basis for disease and its manifestations considered by etiologic and systemic types. Most useful for reading by first- and second-year medical students who want to get a grasp on the essentials. Students in ancillary health disciplines may find it intimidating as an introductory text, but some will probably profit from using it as a text read in parallel with texts in their own fields.
