To the editor: This letter is written in response to the thumbnail review of The Year Book of Endocrinology, 1984 (1). While I am quick to concur with the reviewer's judgment that my annotations are composed with "wit and zest," I was stung by the charge that "from a clinician's point of view, the papers selected for abstract and comment run too heavily to papers reporting research on narrow questions and to case reports of highly uncommon disorders."
This comment was unsettling enough for me to reexamine the 1984 volume with an apprehensive but still critical eye. I reject the
