It is unusual for a small book to adequately combine both sufficient basic science and clinically relevant material within the limited space. Because the field of thrombosis and hemostasis is having an information explosion, the trend has been toward ever more comprehensive and larger textbooks, several excellent examples having been published recently. This background makes this new paperback on thrombosis a rather impressive achievement, because its 330 very readable pages present a plentiful and useful array of concepts, pictures, and references.
The material covered is vast, ranging from detailed biochemical descriptions of platelet and coagulation activation to discussions of syndromes
