To the editor: The letter by Drs. Armstrong and Wetterhall (1) in the May issue was gratifying in that our article (2) was read thoroughly. They are correct in citing two errors on our part. One cannot calculate a mean from one titer value, and the legend to Figure 1 should have been labeled differently. Second, there was a mixup in the identification of Patient 4.
The other questions raised are perhaps debatable. The correspondence is correct in that socioeconomic status affects the age-adjusted incidence of Epstein-Barr virus infection; however, the populations so affected are not typical of North American
