Dr. Robertson, head of the Risk Management Program of the Washington State Medical Society, has written a "risk management" primer for physicians. The book begins with a six-page background of malpractice law, followed by chapters on various problems including informed consent, traditional malpractice problems (misdiagnosis, surgical complications, and so on), damaged newborns, drug issues, problems in documentation, the standard of care, expert witness controversies, hospitals' liability for physician's negligence, and peer review.
