This interactive program uses graphics and text to teach the concepts of basic electrocardiography. The first part of the program includes a description of the normal electrocardiogram; determination of electrical axis; and the characteristic patterns seen with myocardial infarction, bundle branch blocks, hypertrophy, and preexcitation. The second part shows the electrocardiographic findings of arrhythmias, including supraventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmias; premature contractions; sinoatrial and atrioventricular block; as well as the electrocardiographic changes seen with drugs and electrolyte abnormalities. The final part is a quiz consisting of 40 multiple-choice and true-false questions, and two sets of patient management questions.
