Because skin disorders comprise 15% of the chief complaints of adult patients seen by internists and general practice physicians, books assisting with dermatologic diagnosis and treatment belong on every practitioner's bookshelf. Gordon Sauer's book, now in its fifth edition, is among the most attractive. This book provides a highly visual approach to this highly visual specialty, with nearly 400 color and as many black and white photographs, along with numerous diagrams. It also includes a detailed list of treatment suggestions and options. Clinical discussions are concise and the sections on differential diagnosis are helpful.
