A book on any aspect of geriatric medicine should provide information not easily obtainable. Existing cardiovascular books may not address care of the elderly specifically, but the disorders discussed are largely those of older persons. There is perhaps a need for clinical book on geriatric cardiology, based on basic aging changes. Cardiovascular Care of the Elderly includes some material addressing such changes, but there is no attempt to deal in depth with some changes such as diastolic dysfunction and diminishing myocardial oxygen ventilation rate.
The material on chronic pulmonary disease, varicose veins, strokes, and pulmonary stenosis seems inappropriate, as does
