HEALTH AND PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE*
The problem of financing care for patients with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and other illnesses resulting from the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is symptomatic of the larger problems of financing health care in this country. Although most often the term "patients with AIDS" is used in this paper for simplification, our statements and recommendations apply to patients with all HIV-associated illnesses.
