GERALD BURKE, M.D.
To the editor: Kay and colleagues (1) reported the case of a patient who had Graves disease induced by radioactive iodine. Without commenting on the authors' findings or the conclusions they derived, I find the authors practice of treating nontoxic multinodular goiter, presumably ". . . to decrease the goiter size, mainly for cosmetic reasons . . ." highly problematic, and one that should have elicited concern on the part of your reviewers.
