The ability to diagnose Kaposi sarcoma has become an important skill in the 1980s. This text should greatly expand the skills of the uninitiated in their approach to this common cutaneous manifestation of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Two collections of color photographs are most helpful; 25 show the many cutaneous manifestations of Kaposi sarcoma, and 22 pairs contrast the tumor with its common and not-so-common clinical simulators. In addition, the microscopic features of both the subtle early lesions and the more florid advanced tumors are shown extensively.
