To the editor: The article on Cambodian refugee camps (1) contains inaccurate statements which I believe are the result of the short-term exposure of the authors to the complex situation in encampments near the Thai-Kampuchean border. Their short stay did not allow the authors to become familiar with the intricate food distribution system that uses the number of females as its base to distribute food to families. Every female over 110 cm (approximately 8 to 10 years of age) is entitled to 2.5 basic rations. Worker payment rations are given to all workers, not only to males. Supplementary feeding through
