To the editor: In Dr. Young's (1) article about SI units and appropriate publication style, he includes chemical and biochemical nomenclature not internationally accepted. This document repeatedly does not follow the recommendations of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), the International Union of Biochemistry (IUB), and the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC). (Dr. Young is the president of this international federation.)
The recommendations, including nomenclature of chemical and biochemical components, were approved by IUPAC and IFCC in 1978 and published in 1979 (2). Both international organizations recommended the use of current and future regulations issued by
