To the editor: In that the recommendations of Drs. Smith and Kennedy (1) on the use of thrombolysis for acute myocardial infarction included the limited use of intravenous streptokinase, and considering that this thoughtful review in Annals is likely to influence physician behavior considerably, I would appreciate their comment on a study that very likely was published after their manuscript was prepared.
Schroder and colleagues (2) have reported results of a prospective placebo-controlled, double-blind trial of intravenous streptokinase in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction. Published in the January issue of Journal of the American College of Cardiology, this study
