This volume is the third in a series by the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for the Histological Classification of Renal Diseases. (The first two volumes covered glomerular diseases and tubulointerstitial diseases.) I will analyze the two parts of this volume together since the strengths and weaknesses are uniform.
It would be difficult to imagine a more prestigious and knowledgeable group of international pathologists, with a few nephrologists, than the collaborators on this work. There are superb tables of classification that, if accepted by the pathology and nephrology communities, could provide a springboard for international understanding of these entities. These
