Pharmacokinetics describes the kinetic mechanisms of drug absorption, distribution, and elimination, bridging the gap between dosage and plasma concentration. This text, now in its second edition, is a detailed review of the entire field. Five sections are divided among absorption and disposition, therapeutic regimens, physiologic concepts, individual variability and "selected topics." Heavy emphasis on mathematical models and kinetic equations probably limits its usefulness for most clinicians. Each section has study problems and answers for self-regulating learners. (DBN)
