This book is the result of the combined authorship of two family practitioners with special interest and expertise in teaching, and a doctor of education experienced in medical teaching. It purports to be "written for all clinical teachers," and, indeed, the foreword states that the book includes "everything that one needs to know in order to be an effective teacher of clinical medicine." It does not. The book is, rather, a quick overview, principally directed to the skills necessary for teaching and evaluating students and residents in primary care—and best suited for the teacher in family practice.
