Deferred pregnancies, better quality of life for persons with chronic medical disorders, and better understanding of inherited diseases contribute to the timeliness of a discussion on pregnancy planning. Primary care providers and obstetricians need comprehensive resources detailing the impact of various conditions on the outcome of pregnancy and the impact of pregnancy on underlying medical conditions.
