An ideal reference textbook has good organization, easy readability, consistent style, lack of redundancy, convenient indexing for specific references, well-organized tables and appropriate illustrations, and, finally, reasonable cost. These criteria are well met by the editors of this book; there are relatively few contributing authors, which enhances style and minimizes redundancy. That the contributors are leading investigators and teachers in their areas also assures quality and accuracy. There are very few typographic or wording errors in this sizable text.
