It's a quarter to noon. In the lobby of the University Medical Center, patients sit huddled in small groups waiting for their rides home. The automatic doors open and four drug salesmen file in. Three are carrying stacks of cardboard boxes containing pizzas, holding the boxes away from themselves so as not to soil their suits with grease. The fourth salesman is pushing a luggage carrier on which are stacked white boxes filled with sandwiches, pickles, and salad. Two jumbo bottles of Sprite and Pepsi are strapped to the top of the load.
