The ability to carry out invasive cardiac procedures cannot be learned by reading a book. Only through continued practice at the bedside and in the laboratory can such skills be gained. There is, however, certain factual material that can be summarized in textbooks. This text tries to summarize cardiac catheterization for congenital heart disease, coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty, various hemodynamic assessments, electrophysiologic testing, and cardiac biopsy. I know of no other text that has attempted to cover such a great amount of material in one volume.
