Among the many shortcomings in bedside diagnosis today is the paucity of writing aimed at the experienced clinician. Many elementary textbooks on physical diagnosis insult the user's intelligence and scientific knowledge, and no physician will consult these even if a copy somehow avoids the dustbin at the conclusion of a course. The DeGowins' venerable book exemplifies a second tier, but their book has declined in organization and scientific underpinning with each passing edition. But take heart! At last a book on physical diagnosis has been published that the attending physician can enjoy. In this work Dr. Sapira evinces medical scholarship
