This new edition adds coverage of ethical problems that were unknown or unappreciated when the second edition was published in 1983, notably those of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and artificial nutrition and hydration. The general structure and lines of argument continue from the preceding editions. Some new illustrative cases have been added.
