Flow imaging using color encoding of blood velocities is an important, relatively new modality for understanding, following, and managing various cardiovascular abnormalities, and is now considered an integral part of the comprehensive cardiac ultrasound examination. Continuing education in this rapidly expanding technology is a major concern for physicians and sonographers.
Proficiency in data acquisition and interpretive skills in any imaging technique depends on experience. Gura's atlas should be of great assistance in developing the visual skills necessary for recognizing and interpreting color flow Doppler images.
