To the Editors: I found the recent article on the monitoring of therapy in patients taking levothyroxine to have significant practical merit (1). The authors state that a full dose of levothyroxine can be given to younger patients although older patients and those with heart disease should be started more slowly. I believe that it should also be noted that patients with asthma should be started more slowly.
