Their scope is too wide to list here fully but can be suggested with a few topics: writing a job description, appointing a colleague, choosing a house office, filing reprints, pleasing an editor, getting publicity, starting a DNA diagnostic service, developing diabetic care in general practice, commissioning a portrait. Clifford Hawkins' wry essay on how to "Survive a Dinner" itself virtually justifies the price for this collection. His bon mots are too many
