Lorraine Tosiello, MD
To the Editors: No doubt you will receive many letters in response (or reaction) to the facitious essay on "Lime disease" by Dr. Lettau (1); however, I feel compelled to add my voice.
The tongue-in-cheek attitude expressed in the essay reflects the skepticism that so many physicians brandish when our medical knowledge falls short of an elusive diagnosis. Unfortunately, this attitude does little to assuage the pain of our patients who suffer from undiagnosed fatigue symptoms. I am not so certain that the current state of our knowledge can distinguish atypical presentations of Lyme disease or the other fatigue syndromes
