In the first decade of the AIDS era, much has been written about almost every aspect of the epidemic. This collection of essays by eight academicians of varied background discusses the similarities and differences with which nine geopolitical areas responded to the initial emergency. The perspective of the book is sociopolitical rather than clinical, and most of the authors are social scientists.
