Descriptions of clinical actions, both errors of commission and of omission, that can lead to legal actions against the physician or surgeon. Advice on how to minimize such risks, both with specific clinical problems and in general. Although a big fraction of the text is on surgical and surgical-specialty practice and is oriented to British law and institutions, much of the advice, particularly that on record-keeping and relations with patients, is relevant to general practice and internal medicine outside of the United Kingdom.
