It is estimated that Paget disease of bone is present in about 3% of the population over 50 years of age in the United States.
It is, however, frequently misdiagnosed or mistreated. Because of the frequency with which this disease affects the adult population, it behooves most internists to become more aware of this treatable problem.
These two books deal with the same subject, but in different ways. The first is a collection of manuscripts from invited authors on virtually all aspects of Paget disease of bone. These manuscripts were presented as a state-of-the-art review symposium in 1989. Each author
