There are over 80 emergency medicine texts of varying degrees of specialization. Only a handful, however, provide a general discussion of the conditions routinely encountered by emergency physicians. General emergency medicine texts can be divided into two categories. One type provides an in-depth discussion of most emergency medicine topics. The other type of text, represented by this book, gives a less comprehensive treatment of individual topics but discusses all, or nearly all, possible areas of emergency medicine.
